Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation visit from June 15 to 19, covering Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday. The trip includes official bilateral engagements and participation in the G7 Summit in Canada.
According to the MEA, the Prime Minister will begin his visit in Cyprus from June 15–16, where he will hold talks with President Nikos Christodoulides in Nicosia and address a business gathering in Limassol. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Cyprus in over two decades, signaling New Delhi’s intent to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen ties with the Mediterranean region and the European Union.
The second leg of the tour takes PM Modi to Kananaskis, Canada, on June 16–17, at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, to attend the G7 Summit. This will be his sixth consecutive participation in the prestigious gathering.
During the summit, PM Modi is expected to engage in discussions with G7 leaders, representatives of invited outreach nations, and heads of international organizations. Key issues on the agenda include global energy security, technological innovation, and emerging topics such as the AI-energy nexus and quantum technologies. A series of bilateral meetings are also scheduled on the sidelines of the summit.
In the final leg, PM Modi will visit Croatia on June 18, making him the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country. He will hold bilateral talks with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and meet with President Zoran Milanovic. The visit will mark a new chapter in India-Croatia relations and underscore India’s broader strategic engagement with the European Union.
The trip is aimed at enhancing India’s diplomatic footprint and fostering deeper cooperation with Europe and key global powers on pressing international issues.
